Number One: Janet JacksonPERMALINK
Janet Jackson's tear duct tickling tribute to her late brother Michael had the potential to bomb like a Britney Spears take two (let's not rehash). However, it soared -- to say the least. Having to relive lyrics like, "I can't believe what I saw when I turned on the TV, this evening," while keeping it together, Janet displayed not only poise but for the first time a true vulnerability that i have never seen from her. Some may say her dancing was a bit off, but to be fair I am sure she had a few thoughts of other things whizzing around upstairs.
